Engelse samenvatting

Lynngewikkeld is a magazine for parents and teachters to better understand the learner with issues. because get handles and avoid misunderstandings. This editie is about dyslexia and dyscalculia. A disorder in the in the areas of language and mathematics. How can you support students with dyslexia and dyscalculia? What do students need? What not to do? But most importantly: How to empower a student. Dyslexia/dyscalculia is more than just a disorder.

Dyslexia/dyscalculia resides in different parts of the brain. Because of this, the right side of the brain is dominant. This means that information is processed on this side of the brain. Most people think with the left side of the brain where language and math is processed. Many students with dyslexia/dyscalculia are therefore creative and musical. In schools, we often don't see this because our school system is based on the 80 percent left brain thinking. When you pair someone with dyslexia/dyscalculia with projects with someone without this disability, you create a dream team.

In this glossy you will read facts, fables, facts, tips and articles about dyslexia/dyslexia. Carolien Poels the owner of the dyslexia academy tells how she started her work, how to support students and how she views the school system. Eef talks about her studies living with dyscalculia and how she ended up studying online marketing. Also explained is how dyslexia/dyscalculia works in the brain, the difference between both hemispheres of the brain and how diagnoses are made. Of course, the columns are also present again. Keanu talks about his dyscalculia and his studies with state statistics. We speak with elementary school teacher Jantine about her students and with Lonneke who has 2 children with dyslexia.

It is important for students to be supported correctly and learn to be confident and empowered. There are too many misunderstandings about problamtics, that needs to be put right so that every student has every opportunity!
